Spring 2024 Read-Aloud
As the second official Read-Aloud event, planning this occasion was a truly rewarding experience. The theme, "Matches in the Moonlight," inspired weeks of careful budgeting and coordination to determine what elements would need to be created in-house. I led numerous planning meetings, participated in budget discussions, managed the procurement of food, designed and crafted homemade decorations, and developed all advertising materials and the event program.
After carefully reviewing notes from our first event, I implemented several key improvements for the next Read-Aloud. First, I secured a larger venue, relocating the event to a local theater to accommodate the growing audience. I also advised participants to bring their own copies of their work, rather than using the official Inkblot copies, ensuring a more personalized experience. Additionally, I instructed all staff to dress formally for the occasion and took charge of delegating both the opening and closing speeches to ensure a polished and cohesive event flow.
